This position performs customer service, general clerical support, website and content design. The Administrative assistant is under the direct supervision of the Contract Manager and assists the CFO, CEO, and Operations Manager of the Yurok Telecommunications Corporation (YTEL). The Assistant will respond to inquiries from the public and provide information, as necessary. The assistant is responsible for accuracy in all applicable procedures, confidentiality, data entry, and serves as the main contact person for YTEL.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : - Provide support to the customer service team by addressing inquiries and resolving issues through online channels.
- Manage YTEL Website/Social Media platforms.
- Content Creation - Assist in creating and publishing engaging content for YTEL’s website and social media.
- Community Management - Engage with the audience on online platforms and manage online communities.
- Assist in developing and managing editorial content to ensure timely content delivery.
- Field inbound communications - Answer phone calls/general email inquiries and route to the appropriate internal parties as needed.
- Coordinate scheduling - Set up meetings based on cross-functional availability for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate executive-level operations - Book travel, send communications for high-level staff as needed.
- Organize internal resources - Build out and maintain processes to keep files and office supplies organized and easily accessible.
- Communicate policies and procedures - Alert employees of new processes, rules and regulations.
- Manage our Customer Support Center in Orick CA once it is open to the public (late 2025 or 2026).
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or colleagues.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE : - Two (2) years above high school or one year equivalent to the next lower grade level (specialized experience).
- General Experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
- Specialized Experience is considered experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have 1 year of appropriate specialized experience are not required to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Customer service experience.
- Creative thinker, detail- oriented customer and community focused, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Relevant experience in content creations, marketing.
- Familiarity with content management systems and social media platforms. Basic understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics.
- The ability to answer a multi-line telephone system.
- Experience with operating common office equipment such as copy machines, etc.
- Intermediate computer skills that include knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- knowledge of filing systems that managing shared access to company files electronically.
- Knowledge of data entry and database programs such as billing software or access.
- Must understand the meaning of confidentiality.
- Intermediate to advanced general office management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, the ability to compose correspondence and reports.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None currently.

- Valid state issued driver’s license and/or the ability to obtain a California driver’s license. Must be insurable on the Tribe’s insurance policy.

- Position could require travel and occasional work outside of regular work schedule.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment temperature can fluctuate between 40-90 degrees Fahrenheit due to open doors and windows. The job will require inside and outside activities. There are many distractions, and the noise level can escalate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. With ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Knowledge of Yurok language is preferred but not required.
REASONING ABILITY: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form. With ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel. Employee will have prolonged periods of standing and constant movement. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
VISION REQUIREMENTS: - Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
- Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
- Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
