Job Description

Delta Hotels by Marriott Richmond is a beautiful 298 room, full-service hotel, with over 14,000 square feet of flexible event space. Managed by SMI Hotel Group, a growing hotel management company with properties in Virginia and Texas, Delta Richmond Downtown is currently seeking a Catering Sales Manager. Job Summary: This position is responsible for the successful promotion, sales, coordination, and facilitation of events. The Catering Sales Manager will own each event from origination through execution, follow-up, and client relationship maintenance. This position MUST be flexible with hours, as they will change to accommodate events. Benefits:

Responsibilities:
  • Actively pursue and secure business through promotions, prospecting, soliciting, re-soliciting, and inquiries.
  • Be an active participant is industry associations and networking opportunities.
  • Be an active and energetic participant in the Sales and Catering team, interdepartmentally throughout the hotel, and SMI.
  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and yearly quotas/goals for revenue as well as business generating sales activities.
  • Work closely with and report directly to the Director of Catering
  • Maintain a high level of professional customer service. Responsible for client satisfaction by ensuring the client’s needs and concerns are responded to in a courteous and timely manner. Ensure effective communication of client needs to appropriate departments. Provide follow-up calls and correspondence to clients to maintain relationships and encourage repeat business and customer referrals.
  • Responsible for utilizing sales tools/systems to accurately identify, report, record, forecast, and communicate various types of data.
  • Assist in the proper costing of menus and specialty orders.
  • Remain aware of competitors and industry trends. Own each event from origination to execution. Ensure accurate and thorough detailing of events. Create Banquet Event Orders and Event Diagrams to distribute interdepartmentally. Ensure all event rooms are set correctly, prior to client arrival. Must be present at events to ensure accurate execution and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all hotel and departmental policies
  • Maintain and audit filing system and electronic sales system for accuracy
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all hotel information, reports, correspondence, and files that are proprietary or otherwise designated as confidential
Requirements:
  • Must have 2+ years of Catering, Sales, and/or Event, Management Experience
  • Industry certifications preferred
  • Must be highly organized, maintain professional appearance, work well in a team environment, be prompt and dependable, as well as motivated and ambitious
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and clients
  • General office and computer skills
  • Knowledge of costing, selling, up-selling, and industry trends
  • Marriott, CI/TY, experience preferred
