Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Maintenance Technician III to join our maintenance and operations team, ensuring that we deliver impeccable service and pristine accommodations. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of a high-quality hotel and make a significant impact on guest experiences. This is a part-time or full-time on-site role for a Maintenance Technician III at Hudson Yards Hotel in New York, NY. The Maintenance Technician III will oversee day-to-day maintenance operations, including implementing operational processes to ensure efficiency. The technician will work closely with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a positive ambassador of the hotel.
  • Analyze problems, identify courses of action, and implement solutions with available resources and to a high degree of quality.
  • Plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing, and electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners and cosmetic items.
  • Clean, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. See that all tools used are returned and secured in the proper storage area.
  • Look for ways to conserve energy and report any ideas to the operations management.
  • To act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status. To inform engineering management of any such emergencies.
  • Continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.
  • Maintain a thorough log of each day’s activities and problems that occur and to ensure this information is passed on to other shifts.
  • Work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well organized.
  • Serve as otherwise directed or needed to help maintain the effective and efficient operation of the hotel at the discretion of the Hotel Management and Chief Engineer.
  • Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner. Maintain communications with supervisors to ensure that all needed materials, tools, and supplies are available or on order.
  • Maintains the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance technicians.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and time spent. Follow up on any items that may be on backorder.
  • Install new machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Conduct inspections of machinery and equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Repair and replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools.
  • Keep supervisor updated on assignments.


Qualifications

  • High level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently or collaboratively to ensure the efficient operation of all machinery and equipment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role, preferably in a hotel or resort environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and property systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and techniques.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.
  • Legal work authorization in the United States.

Compensation

This full-time role offers a competitive salary ranging between $27 and $30 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education, with the added benefit of weekly pay.
