The CyberPeace Institute protects the most vulnerable in cyberspace. We deliver cybersecurity assistance and hold all actors accountable for ensuring peace in cyberspace by exposing the human harm caused by cyberattacks and disinformation. We advocate against the unacceptable use of artificial intelligence to threaten international peace and security, while promoting the responsible development and use of AI.
We are seeking a motivated Cyber Outreach & Research Intern to join our U.S.-based team. The ideal candidate will support our outreach efforts, conduct research, manage scheduling, and assist with writing projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about cybersecurity, digital rights, and making a meaningful impact in protecting civil society organizations.
Practical experience in outreach and advocacy:
Learn how to effectively engage with partners, stakeholders, and communities to advance cybersecurity and digital rights initiatives.
In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity and digital rights:
Deepen your understanding of key challenges in cybersecurity, including cyber threats to civil society and strategies for resilience-building.
Explore how digital security intersects with human rights and critical infrastructure protection.
Research and analytical skills:
Enhance your ability to conduct thorough research on complex topics, synthesize information, and produce impactful written materials.
Professional communication skills:
Develop expertise in writing professional correspondence, reports, and outreach materials tailored to diverse audiences.
Insights into nonprofit operations and global collaboration:
Understand the inner workings of a global nonprofit organization and collaborate with experts and leaders in cybersecurity and digital rights advocacy.
Outreach and Follow-Ups
Assist with reaching out to partners, stakeholders, and potential collaborators.
Manage follow-ups to ensure timely responses and engagement.
Scheduling and Coordination
Organize meetings, events, and webinars, ensuring smooth communication with all participants.
Maintain an updated calendar of activities and deadlines.
Research and Writing
Conduct research on cybersecurity, digital rights, and related topics.
Explore opportunities for public, philanthropic, and/or organizational funding.
Draft reports, summaries, and outreach materials.
Assist in developing content for social media, newsletters, and other communication channels.
General Administrative Support
Organize and maintain documentation related to outreach and research.
Provide support in developing strategies to engage with diverse communities and organizations.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in cybersecurity, digital rights, international relations, public policy, or a related field at a U.S. university.
Strong research and writing skills, with attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Prior experience or academic exposure to cybersecurity, digital rights, or related topics.
Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and online communication platforms (e.g., Zoom).
A proactive attitude and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
