Job Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator

Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Annapolis, Maryland.

Duration: 5-Year Term (07/01/2025 06/30/2030)

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Eastern Time)
• Flexibility to extend hours for project deadlines, support, and emergencies
• Two (2) to four (4) weeks of initial training
• Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite + 2 days remote weekly (subject to adjustment based on performance or project needs)
• Must be available to report onsite within 24 hours if required
• Shortlisted candidates must attend a 1-hour onsite interview at: 187 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator to manage and optimize its Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The Administrator will play a key role in ensuring system stability, security, and performance across mission-critical applications, with a strong emphasis on automation, troubleshooting, and adherence to security best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in development, testing, and production environments.
• Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
• Monitor system performance, identify and troubleshoot issues to optimize system efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Automate administrative tasks using Ansible, Bash, or Python scripting.
• Manage Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Identity Management (IdM), and associated tools.
• Collaborate with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance.
• Support storage solutions, backups, disaster recovery (DR) initiatives, and application deployments.
• Set up and manage Network File Servers (NFS) and system/application cron jobs.
• Maintain detailed system documentation and operational procedures.
• Provide on-call support and promptly resolve incidents.
• Ensure effective collaboration with application development and operations teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Valid Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience administering Red Hat Linux environments.
• 10+ years of experience administering IBM pSeries (AIX) Unix systems.
• 15+ years of overall IT experience.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Oracle WebLogic Servers
  • Oracle Databases
  • Progress 4GL/OpenEdge
  • Apache Web Servers
  • VMware vSphere-hosted RHEL servers
  • Rubrik backup systems
  • PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI, CVS
• Expertise in:
  • Red Hat performance tuning, load balancing, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning
  • Supporting 24/7 highly available systems
  • Application development support and Red Hat technical support
  • Electronic imaging solutions

Skills and Competencies

• Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Deep troubleshooting skills across OS, database, and application layers
• In-depth knowledge of Red Hat system configuration, optimization, and security
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
