Job Title: Meteorologist (Part-Time) - KIRO TV

Position Overview

Do you have a passion for weather? Do you believe that weather is more than just a conversation starter? If so, we want you to join our dynamic team of meteorologists at KIRO 7 News in Seattle. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Create and present weather forecasts for TV, OTT, and digital platforms
• Uses WSI and related weather equipment/technology to deliver the most accurate forecasts
• Responsible for pitching weather related stories for all platforms.
• Ability to write and produce stories and present them live on TV, and on digital platforms.
• Must be flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts, as this is a part-time position

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience in a variety of anchor/reporting scenarios, including studio, remotes, specials, etc.
• Very strong communication with the ability to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations, particularly breaking news
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, prioritize decisions, and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high pressure, breaking news environment
• Understanding of emerging news production techniques and technology
• Active engagement in social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
• Good collaborative and interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels
• Works well in a team environment
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Journalism, Communications or Science preferred
• Completion of Certified Broadcast Meteorology (CBM) program through the American Meteorology Society (AMS) is preferred

• The wage scale for this position is $35.00 per hour to $55.00 per hour.
