To describe the general nature and level of work performed by physician assistants in the Emergency Department. This should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all the responsibilities and duties of the physician assistant or senior physician assistant. Physician assistants are credentialed to perform direct clinical functions in all areas of the Emergency Department, including the Adult ED, Fast Track, Pediatric Emergency Department, and ED Observation Unit.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the general supervision of the Attending Physician, the Physician Assistant in delivering primary care in the Emergency Department will perform the following duties:
-Completion of NYS- approved program for the training of physician assistants or specialist assistants, usually via Bachelor of Science program or degree in closely related field.
-NYS PA License
-Registration required with NYS as Physician Assistant.
-Certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (or equivalent organization) preferred for Physician Assistant.
-Certification in ACLS and PALS required.
-High level of analytical ability required to effectively and expeditiously diagnose and treat medical/surgical problems under the direction of the supervising Attending Physician.
-Interacts with various internal hospital medical and administrative and professional staff in the course of routine clinical duties. High degree of responsibility required for daily contacts with patients and their families.
-Manual dexterity required for adept manipulation of surgical instruments and handling of medical equipment; physical strength necessary for lifting and proper handling/positioning of patients.

Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70 - $70 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
