Job Description and Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Services, Pharmacy Services, Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment (ISUDT)/Complex Care Pharmacist II, the Pharmacy Technician performs basic services in a pharmacy and technical duties. The Pharmacy Technician assists in maintaining pharmacy operations and assists the pharmacists in preparing prescriptions and maintains records and inventories of medications in accordance with Department policies and federal and State laws and regulations in support of the ISUDT program. May work around inmates of a correctional facility. Occasional travel may be required.

This position is located in Pharmacy Services, Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment (ISUDT)/Complex Care , Medical Services, which  provides safe, effective and efficient health care to patients within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s 35 institutions.  The Central Pharmacy dispenses prescriptions to both inpatient and outpatient settings and provides clinical pharmacy services where necessary.  Pharmaceutical care is provided to each prison by the local staff of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians through all levels of patient care (inpatient to ambulatory).
