Job Summary:

The Self-Checkout Attendant is responsible for assisting customers with the self-checkout process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience. This role involves monitoring the self-checkout area, providing customer service, resolving technical issues, preventing theft, and maintaining a clean workspace.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and assist them with self-checkout machines.
• Monitor transactions to prevent scanning errors and fraud.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with self-checkout kiosks.
• Verify age-restricted purchases (e.g., alcohol, tobacco).
• Ensure customers scan and pay for all items properly.
• Provide guidance on payment methods and bagging items.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the self-checkout area.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or suspicious activities.
• Assist customers with price checks and item lookups.
• Uphold store policies and provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior retail or customer service experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting.
• Comfortable handling cash, credit card transactions, and technology.
• Friendly, patient, and attentive to customer needs.

Work Environment & Schedule:

• Fast-paced retail setting.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.
• Standing and walking for most of the shift.
