Qualifications
Education and Experience
* High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
* Completion of technician training program preferred.
* Certified pharmacy technician preferred.
* Registered as Registered Pharmacy Technician with State of Maryland within six months of date of hire or transfer into the position.
* One - two years working experience as a pharmacy technician in an institutional setting preferred.
* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Seeks validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making as necessary and assertively seeks guidance in areas of question.

* Participates actively in staff development activities for unit and Department of Pharmacy personnel.

* Participates in peer review and unit and Department of Pharmacy quality improvement activities.
* Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills a s method of sound decision making. Accepts change as a part of the problem-solving process.
* Attends hospital and departmental meetings as required or assigned.
* Represents the department and the function on hospital committees, professional associations, and community organizations.
* Participates in problem solving/decision making and performance improvement.
* Utilizes effective methods of communication.
* Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, workshops, in-service meetings, etc.
* Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance program, safety environmental and infection control.
* Assumes the role of Pharmacy Inventory Control technician/Pharmacy Pyxis technician, as needed.
